Super Moonrise over Kinsale

Posted by Tim on 9 December 2017 - 8:38am

Last week we had a super moon rise. Every 14 months or so when the moon's orbit is at it's closest point to earth we get what appears to be a much larger moon - at least at the horizon. Anyway, last Sunday night I was able to photograph this moonrise, over a part of Kinsale called Summer Cove. I was shooting across the harbour from James Fort. If you don't know these two areas of Kinsale, it just means you need to plan a visit here to see them for yourself!

The Kinsale Temperance Hall

This past week Kathy and I were nominated to serve on the board of the Kinsale Temperance Hall. This public building, we learned, is legally owned by the people of Kinsale and is available to be rented by most groups, clubs or individuals in the area. Since our church and the Kinsale Photographic Society both rent the hall regularly, we were asked to join the committee, beginning next month. The hall is in the middle of town and is an outstanding location for many events, including our upcoming Carols at Christmas service planned for 10 December.

MC Camp!

Three times per year Munster Christian Camps operates three age group camps for kids up through secondary (High School) age. Kathy and I get to help with the oldest age group of around 16 to 19 year olds. This past week we had a full camp of 52 kids and 14 leaders. This camping ministry is usually 4 to 6 days of fun, learning and growing together for kids in our province (southern Ireland). Here's a few shots from the paintball outing!

Kathy's Birthday

Posted by Tim on 11 October 2017 - 6:08pm

Today was Kathy's birthday. I learned early on that if you want to make Kathy happy, just take her to the sea! So, that's where we spend a good deal of the day today. Add Rocco to the mix and it was a very lovely day. This was near a place called Courtmacsherry that we love to go!
