Kinsale Mist...

Posted by Tim on 29 September 2016 - 2:50pm

We often have bright sunny days here in Kinsale, but we also often have 'close' or 'misty' days as well. This past week or two has had many more misty days than we usually get. So, I thought it time to snap a few 'fog portraits, of this famous Co. Cork tourist attraction.

If you have not been to Ireland, it is good to prepare for two or three types of weather in a single day, no matter which time of year you visit. That's wny dressing in layers is so popular - you can quckly remove a hoodie or jumper (sweater) if the sun pops out, and then you can put it back on when (not 'if') it dissaperars! Here's a "non-sunny" day photograph:

39 Years Ago TODAY

27 August 1977 Kathy and I were married in Salinas, California - 39 years ago today! So, to celebrate God's countless blessings to us, we are going to have dinner at one of Ireland's most stunning restaurants! We have never been inside the Kinsale Old Head Golf Links clubhouse and restaurant, but we have been to the top of the Old Head Lighthouse, from where I took the below photographs.

old head golf links This is an image of part of the golf course built on this narrow spit of land called the Kinsale Old Head, the clubhouse & restaurant are tucked into the background looking over the golf course and the lighthouse, which I'm inside of, to take this shot!

Wild Orchid

Posted by Tim on 20 August 2016 - 4:00pm

We have been living in Wild Orchid, the name of our home, since September 2012. As we prepare for a 6 month 'time away' back in the states (Dec 2016 - May 2017) we will be leaving Wild Orchid. We had hoped to be able to keep the house, but the owners have decided to move back in. So now, we need to think about finding a new place to live. The Lord has always provided the perfect place for us to live, and Kathy and I have no doubt He will do so again this time!

Grace E

Here in Kinsale, once or twice a year, we are surprised by the visit of a superyacht. In the past couple of weeks, it was 'that time' and 'Grace E' sailed into the harbour. The harbour master is a friend of ours so he gave us a bit of info on this 5 deck, $120 million ship, owned by an American in the coffee business. Now I know why a 5 oz cup of coffee cost €3,50 ($4.00)!

The first photo below is a shot of Grace E anchored in the mouth of the harbour waiting for a pilot to bring her in so she can dock in the marina. The second shot gives you an idea of her size next to our 'normal' size boats.
