21 Degrees (70F) in February!

What a strange winter we have been having here in Kentucky. We lived here full time for 13 years, and this time of year is usually VERY cold. Today, here in Louisville, it is at peak summer time temps for Ireland! Earlier in the month we experienced temperature swings of more than 40 degrees in less than a day!

Here's the view from the house our son and daughter-in-law (Matt & Christie) rent; yesterday we had a picnic near the river. The state of Indiana is on the far side of the Ohio river, we see barges going up and down the river every day.

My Girls... and new Grandson!

Sorry it has been a while since our last post. Whew, we have been all over the place, and as I write this Kathy is in California while I (Tim) am here in Kentucky. Lots of 'stuff' going on with Kathy's brother (house fire) and sister (broken hip), but we will be back together again on February 15th here in KY.

Meanwhild, let me introduce you to our newest Grandson, Daniel Lazarus Laughlin. Born on January 10th in Wheaton, IL to Andrew & Sarah - our oldest son and his wife... Here he is being held by Gramma!

And here is Kathy on a California beach with our 'baby girl' Sarah - thanks for sending this picture Alvin, Sarah's wonderful husband.

Arrived in Kentucky!

Posted by Tim on 7 January 2017 - 7:36pm

We have now arrived in the state we lived for 13 years prior to moving to Irelnd in 2008 - Kentucky! We are asked about 'Kentucky Fried Chicken' on a regular basis when our Irish friends find out we lived here for many years.

We have moved into an apartment that used to be a local firehouse here in Covington, which is just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio. The firehouse has been remodelled and we have the upper level for the next few weeks or so - not 100% sure on how long we will be here; but for now we are calling it home! Here's a picture taken in about -13 degrees (8 degrees F). Brrrrrr we are not used to this kind of winter cold anymore!

Mt Shasta in Northern California

Today, Kathy and I were driving back to Salinas, CA after a week in Oregon; just off the I5 motorway/interstate in Northern California I pulled off the road several times as I could not get enough of Mt. Shasta against an incredibly blue sky. What an amazing sight - God is an artist second to none!
