Back in the USA

We arrived back in the USA on December 1st, landing in San Jose, CA. It was great to see Sarah & Alvin at the airport, as they took us home with them. Sarah and Alvin, now married for 9 months gave us a warm welcome and we have enjoyed some great family time.

As i post this, we are in Oregon, visiting our son Mark and two of the grands...Jack & Jonah. Here's a few pics...

Kathy's Mum's 80th This is Kathy, with her lovely mother, Shirley Jager at her 80th birthday. This was a surprise party near Salinas, CA where Shirley lives. It was a very successful surprise - she didn't have a clue as it was a few days before the actual event! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST MOTHER-IN-LAW on the planet.

Kathy & Mark This is Kathy with our 2nd son, Mark, now living near Ashland, Oregon. We have been able to be with Mark for a week now. We plan to return to Salinas on Wed, and celebrate Christmas with Kathy's family for the first time in 22 years! Mark will join us along with Sarah, Alvin, Kath's brother Steve as well as others in the area. Can't wait!

Mars Hill in Athens, Greece!

Posted by Tim on 28 November 2016 - 2:58pm

At 1:00am on Sunday morning, we returned from a conference that happens once every three years somewhere in western europe. This time it was on one of the many islands of Greece, about a 90 minute drive from Athens. While we were there, we got to go on a tour that included the Acropolis of Athens (a flat topped rocky peak about 450ft above the city) where the Parthenon and six other significant buildings were build over the centuries.

Just down from the Acropolis we were able to stand on Mars Hill. It was amazing to be standing where the apostle Paul delivered his Act 17 speech, which took about 3 minutes and convinced many Athenians of the validity of Christianity. Here's a photo of Mars Hill and what  the view of Athens is from the top!

If you turn and look the other direction, up the hill to the Acropolis, this is what that looks like, just before dusk falls on the city . . . truly an incredible experience.

Here's the scene this evening, from our new back garden, as the 'Supermoon' rises around 7:34pm this evening. It was not a clear night, but you can see the bottom half on the moon in this image as it rises into the clouds on the horizon...

Secondary School Age Camp

This past Saturday through Tuesday was another edition of MCC (Munster Christian Camp), this time held in Durrow. where Faith Mission has built an incredible facilty half way between Dublin & Cork for camping and conferences. This school term break saw about 45 kids and 20 leaders attending camp and having loads of fun with solid teaching as well.

There was a half day outing to Dublin's National Aquatic Centre, and to Killkenny for bowling. This newer facility is custom built for this type of camping and the kids really look forward to it. Here's a few images of the facility:
