39 Years Ago TODAY

27 August 1977 Kathy and I were married in Salinas, California - 39 years ago today! So, to celebrate God's countless blessings to us, we are going to have dinner at one of Ireland's most stunning restaurants! We have never been inside the Kinsale Old Head Golf Links clubhouse and restaurant, but we have been to the top of the Old Head Lighthouse, from where I took the below photographs.

Wild Orchid

We have been living in Wild Orchid, the name of our home, since September 2012. As we prepare for a 6 month 'time away' back in the states (Dec 2016 - May 2017) we will be leaving Wild Orchid. We had hoped to be able to keep the house, but the owners have decided to move back in. So now, we need to think about finding a new place to live. The Lord has always provided the perfect place for us to live, and Kathy and I have no doubt He will do so again this time!

Grace E

Here in Kinsale, once or twice a year, we are surprised by the visit of a superyacht. In the past couple of weeks, it was 'that time' and 'Grace E' sailed into the harbour. The harbour master is a friend of ours so he gave us a bit of info on this 5 deck, $120 million ship, owned by an American in the coffee business. Now I know why a 5 oz cup of coffee cost €3,50 ($4.00)!

The first photo below is a shot of Grace E anchored in the mouth of the harbour waiting for a pilot to bring her in so she can dock in the marina. The second shot gives you an idea of her size next to our 'normal' size boats.

How About a House Built in the 1600's!

Posted by Tim on 26 July 2016 - 6:42am

Last week we were invited to join our very good friends, Jeff & Caroline Hay, at another friend's 400 year old house in Wexford - about a 4 hour drive from Kinsale. Look at that THATCHED ROOF! Believe it or not, this type of roof is still installed brand new! They work really well and last a long time - increased fire potential is the only drawback!

Side view Here's a side view of the same house . . . our friend's family has owned this for over 50 years and done many renovations, but the front view is very similar to how this house looked when built in the 1600's - AMAZING!
